Most homeowners think painting is just "painting." In Naples, the weather window matters more than almost anywhere in North America. Paint at the wrong time and you can lose adhesion, get blistering, or watch a fresh coat get rained on within hours. Here's a real season-by-season guide.
The short answer
For exterior work in Naples, the best window is October through May — lower humidity, fewer storms, lower temperatures. June through September is workable but requires careful weather watching. Hurricane season (June-November) can disrupt schedules even on dry days.
For interior work, any time of year is fine since the climate inside is controlled. AC humidity, dust, and temperature inside are predictable.
For cabinet refinishing, year-round is fine since most spraying happens offsite in a controlled environment.
Month-by-month breakdown
January – February (PEAK exterior window)
Coolest temperatures of the year, lowest humidity, most predictable weather. This is when serious exterior projects get scheduled in Naples. Demand is high — book 4-6 weeks ahead. Daytime highs typically 70-80°F. Almost no rain. Paint cures perfectly.
Best for: Major exterior repaints, stucco repair, anything weather-sensitive.
March – April (excellent exterior, peak demand)
Still cool, still dry, but demand peaks because snowbirds want projects done before they leave. Book 6+ weeks ahead for full-home exterior projects. Cabinet refinishing also peaks here. Daytime highs 75-85°F.
May (transition month)
Mornings still pleasant, afternoon humidity creeps up. Last reliable month before rainy season. We schedule heavy exterior work in May but watch the forecast carefully — an unexpected early thunderstorm can push paint application.
If you split time between Naples and another home, book your exterior paint for fall before you arrive or spring before you leave — not during your visit. That way the project happens while you're here to walk the start and the final, but doesn't take up your in-town time.
June (workable with caution)
Daily afternoon thunderstorms begin. We can paint exteriors in June, but we work morning-only and pause for rain. Interior and cabinet projects continue normally. Daytime highs 85-90°F.
July – August (challenging for exterior)
Peak rainy season. Humidity 80%+. Daily storms. We CAN still do exterior work in July-August, but expect schedules to flex around weather. Mornings are workable; afternoons usually aren't. Quality requires patience: we won't apply paint when rain is forecast within 2 hours of dry time, or when humidity is so high the paint can't cure properly.
Best for: Interior, cabinet refinishing, smaller exterior touch-ups.
September – October (peak hurricane risk)
September is the highest hurricane activity month. October starts to ease. We schedule conservatively in September and watch the tropical forecast 10-14 days out. October is the start of the next great exterior window.
November – December (excellent exterior window)
Humidity drops, temperatures cool, storms stop. December is one of the most reliable exterior painting months in Naples. Holiday scheduling can be tight but we work around it.

Request a Free EstimateWhy timing matters more for exterior
Exterior paint cures by both evaporation and chemical reaction with the air. Both processes are affected by:
- Temperature: Most premium acrylic paints need 50-90°F during application AND for 24 hours after. Below 50°F (rare in Naples) or above 90°F slows curing.
- Humidity: Above 85% relative humidity, paint can't evaporate water properly. Surface looks dry but isn't fully cured.
- Direct sun: Painting in direct mid-day sun on hot stucco causes "flash drying" — the paint surface skins over before the underlying coat bonds properly. Bad adhesion.
- Imminent rain: Most modern acrylic paints are rain-resistant within 2-4 hours of application. Before then, rain washes paint off.
Interior painting timing
Inside, we control the environment. We can paint year-round. The main considerations:
- AC running: Keep your AC at 72-78°F during the project. Cools the work area, controls humidity, accelerates cure.
- Holidays: Christmas through New Year is our slowest interior season. Sometimes you can get faster scheduling and weekday flexibility.
- Hurricane prep: If a hurricane is approaching, we pause work and tarp everything. We don't leave projects mid-application before a storm.
