Color is the single most stress-inducing part of a paint project for most Naples homeowners. The same gray that looks calming on a Pinterest pin can read green on your stucco. The white that's perfect in a Vermont kitchen reads stark blue in Florida sun. Here's an honest contractor's guide to what actually works in our light.
The Naples lighting problem
Florida sun has more blue spectrum than nearly anywhere else in North America. That means cool grays read greener, warm whites read pinker, and saturated colors fade harder. Colors that look gorgeous in your contractor's sample can swatch can look completely different on your wall in late afternoon.
The fix: always paint a 2x2 foot test patch on the wall and look at it in morning, afternoon, and evening light before committing. We do this for every exterior project on request, and we recommend it for interior projects with strong natural light.
Exterior color trends for 2026 in Naples
Coastal whites
The dominant exterior trend right now in Naples is a warm, slightly creamy white that reads bright in sun without being stark. Our most-used picks:
- Sherwin-Williams Alabaster (SW 7008) — warm white with a soft yellow undertone. Holds up beautifully in Florida sun, doesn't go pink at sunset.
- Benjamin Moore Simply White (OC-117) — slightly cleaner than Alabaster, still warm enough to feel inviting.
- Sherwin-Williams Snowbound (SW 7004) — cool-leaning white. Looks best on contemporary architecture and works well with cooler accent colors.
Soft greys and greiges
Light grey-beige hybrid colors give Naples homes a modern coastal feel without committing to a strong color. Top picks:
- Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige (SW 7036) — warm greige. Reads beige in shade, grey in sun. Versatile and forgiving.
- Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray (HC-173) — soft, warm grey. Works on stucco, fiber-cement, or wood siding.
- Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray (SW 7029) — the most popular grey in America for a reason. Subtle, balanced, forgiving.
Soft blues and blue-greens
Coastal Naples homes increasingly use soft blue-greens on exteriors — pulling color from the gulf and sky:
- Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt (SW 6204) — pale blue-green that reads almost neutral in bright sun. Beautiful on stucco.
- Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue (HC-144) — soft blue-grey-green. Reads more blue in shade, more grey in sun.
- Sherwin-Williams Rainwashed (SW 6211) — quietly cool, soft, restful.
On a Naples exterior, the trim color shifts the entire look. White-on-white reads minimal and modern. White trim on a colored body reads classic. Body-color trim (monochromatic) reads sophisticated but requires high-quality paint and prep. We'll talk through trim options during your color consultation.
Interior color trends
Warm neutrals dominating 2026
The cool-grey-everywhere era is over. Naples interiors are trending warm:
- Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee (OC-45) — creamy warm white, makes rooms feel softer and larger.
- Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa (SW 7551) — warm off-white with subtle yellow undertone.
- Benjamin Moore Pale Oak (OC-20) — soft taupe-beige. Beautiful as a wall color with white trim.
Accent colors for 2026
- Soft sage greens — Sherwin-Williams Sage (SW 2860), Benjamin Moore Saybrook Sage (HC-114)
- Earthy terracottas — Sherwin-Williams Renwick Beige (SW 2805), Benjamin Moore Bird's Egg (2051-60)
- Deep navy and forest green for islands, libraries, and powder rooms

Colors to avoid in Naples
Some colors that work elsewhere don't hold up well in our market:
- Pure stark whites — can read blue or grey in shadow, and stark in direct sun. Always lean slightly warm.
- Very dark exteriors — absorb heat, expand and contract more than light colors, fade harder, and read aggressive on tropical landscapes. If you want dark, pair with light trim.
- Cool blue-greys on warm-leaning architecture — Mediterranean-style stucco fights against cool tones. Match the color temperature to your architecture.
- Saturated reds, oranges, purples — fade fastest in UV. If you want a punchy color, plan to repaint sooner.
How to test a color before committing
- Buy or request a sample pot of the actual paint product (not a color chip).
- Paint a 2x2 foot patch on the wall you'll see most.
- Look at it at 8 AM, 1 PM, and 6 PM.
- Check it next to your trim, flooring, and any large fixed elements (countertops, stone).
- Sleep on it for 48 hours before deciding.
If you're working with us, we can paint multiple test patches as part of the project — just ask. See our process page for how color consultation fits into the project flow.
